Stay planning
Hotel, guesthouse or apartment? Choose your kind of stay
Compare privacy, space, facilities and location before deciding where to stay.
The right accommodation depends on the trip you are planning, not just the property label. A short city break, a family holiday and a longer work visit can call for different priorities.
Start with the essentials
Write down your guest count, preferred area, transport needs and must-have facilities. Compare the actual room and property description, because services can vary within every accommodation type.
Hotels and guesthouses
Hotels may suit travellers who want established reception arrangements and a choice of room types. Guesthouses can offer a smaller setting, but reception hours, meals and access arrangements differ. Check these details with the property rather than assuming they are included.
Apartments and longer stays
An apartment may be useful when extra living space matters. Verify whether the kitchen is private, which equipment is provided, how cleaning works and whether check-in is self-managed. Do not assume an apartment includes hotel-style services.
Travelling with family
- Check occupancy and child policies for each room.
- Ask about stairs, lifts and accessibility when relevant.
- Check whether connecting rooms or extra beds are actually available.
- Review parking and the distance to your planned activities.
Compare like for like
Compare the same dates, guest count and cancellation conditions. Published guest reviews can add useful context; a property star classification is not the same as a guest review score. Where reviews are unavailable, rely on verified details and direct questions rather than invented ratings.
