Trust & safety

Understand our checks, protect your details and get help when something is not right.

At a glance

A useful travel platform should tell you what it checks and where your own judgement still matters. TravelOut uses host identity and document checks, property review and a separate ownership-claim process for seeded listings. A verification badge describes a particular check; it is not a guarantee of safety, quality or an uninterrupted stay.

Hosts submit identity/KYC documents and property details for review. A person claiming an existing unclaimed page must provide evidence of authority to manage that property. Those pages are not bookable merely because their names appear on TravelOut. Always read the current page status, room details, policies and booking confirmation.

Stay reviews can be submitted by the guest associated with a completed stay, and published reviews go through moderation. This helps connect feedback to a real booking rather than an invented score. A property without published reviews has no guest rating to display.

Contact information is limited in pre-booking enquiries and exposed only through authorized booking or support access. Private documents are not publicly downloadable. Account permissions restrict access to bookings, host operations and administrative tools; sensitive privileged actions require additional verification. Changes to important records are logged. These safeguards reduce risk, but no online service can promise complete security.

To report an incorrect or suspicious listing, use its report control. A published review has a report option where available. If you cannot find the control, contact support through the Help Centre with the page link, booking reference and a brief explanation. Do not publish identity documents, passwords or payment details in a review.

Guests should provide accurate details, respect property rules and check cancellation and payment terms. Hosts should keep availability and descriptions accurate, respect guests’ privacy and communicate changes promptly. For booking disagreements, use your booking’s support/dispute options or the Help Centre. Keep relevant messages and receipts; support can help review the issue but cannot guarantee a particular resolution.

For immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. TravelOut support is not an emergency service. Our Privacy policy and Terms pages explain the service in more detail and are labelled as drafts where legal review is still pending.

Report a listing, review or booking concern through the available controls or Help Centre.
